Thanks Michael. All of the people I used to call friends, on Father's Day, stood up and dedicated his baby on Father's Day. Neither my wife nor my daughters was invited. This was wrong on SO many levels. The pastor and associate pastor, both people who I thought were my friends, just went ahead and did it. People who call themselves my friends have not even mentioned it to us. I found out when a friend mentioned it in passing. This is yet another special, once in a lifetime thing that my wife gets to miss for the crime of being married to me.

Last week, when I wrote this, I had a feeling that something was happening. It was that odd feeling you get when something that is not right is about to happen. I have to learn to listen to that still, small voice.

That's a fine article about a really painful situation...that is not at all uncommon today.

My prayer is that you get to write that follow up someday...soon.

Hi Joe!

The Arian Heresy has terrible consequences that plague us today. The Visigoths were Arians, and when they swept across Europe, they settled in Spain, among other places. They oppressed the Jews who lived there, and when the Moorish Muslims had their eyes on Europe the Jews sided with the Muslims. By this time the Muslims realized that taxing Jews and Christians was more profitable than cutting off their heads. Dhimmitude was a tenuous, though rigorous existence.

The Jews, who were able to travel freely between Spain and North Africa, and acted as intelligence agents for the Moorish conqueror Jabal al Tariq, whose name lives on in Gibraltar.

With the "Reconquista" of 1492, the memories of Jewish perfidy resulted in expulsion and inquisitions. The Jews fled to Poland where they lived in relative peace until the 20th century. The Jews of the Warsaw ghetto formed the core of the Israeli army.

Spain has its problems, now that the Muslim umma claims "al Andalus" (Spain) as their rightful territory, and demonstrated their sincerity by bombing a railroad station.

And on and on...
I could write a book.

Joe,

This is very well put. It mirrors exactly what I've been thinking for several weeks. So many of us (humans) hurt ourselves and those around us when we remain stubborn and hard-hearted toward issues in our lives. And we don't see that we are hurting others or ourselves right away. Sometimes is takes years for us humans to understand the error of our ways, and by the time we recognize what we've thoughtlessly said or done in the past, it is sometimes too late to make amends. As humans, we only have a certain amount of time to live on this earth. And we just don't know how long we will have to reconcile situations before we are called Home (hopefully). One thing I know is this...I don't want to leave this earth with any single person I have a relationship with, thinking that I don't love them and think they are not an important part of my life. Even acquaintenance and clients and people that aren't close family or friends deserve to be treated the way Jesus would treat them. When I stand in front of my Father in Heaven on that day, I want to know that I have made Him proud by treating each of His children like gold.
